I purchased this item after seeing the infomercial. I spend a lot of time chopping for my favorite meals. I like to make fruit salsa, tomato bruschetta, and fresh pesto. Normally I chop everything by hand. I saw the commercial and thought how great it would be if instead of taking me 20 minutes to chop my pesto, I could do it in a couple of minutes.

However, after trying to use this item several times, I've found that no matter how long I run it, I only get mush. And it is all or nothing. Either nothing is chopped or everything becomes soup.

I will keep it and hopefully I can still use it for smoothies, but it is useless for what I really wanted to use it for.

A good time and space saver if you take care of it

This item was purchased for us as a wedding present. I have wanted one since my mom got one. For the cost and for what it does it saves you the space of buying all of these:

1. Coffee grinder
2. Blender
3. Spice grinder
4. Margarita maker
5. Mixer

If you live in the proverbial 10x10 1 butt kitchen the counter space saved alone makes it wise investment. If you are a gadget freak that loves items that can multitask, again this product is for you.

There are some caveats. This item is obviously made in China(like most everything else you buy in the kitchen that you don't spend a boat load of money on). So you probably don't want to overload the item with heavy things. My mom did and ruined hers. The best way to take care of it is to assume the motor is a piece of crap like pretty much every small appliance made in China and actually run it for less time than the manufacturer recommends--I never run mine longer than 5 seconds at at time and neither does my mother-in-law who has had hers for 4 years and it still works solidly. When crushing ice for instance, stop and start off and on every 2 to 3 seconds and give it a good shake--otherwise it will burn out. That is why I gave the item 4 stars instead of 5--the motor is loud and just not that strong but it's better than your run-of-the mill cheap blender do the size and added functionality. Item works best if you use liquids in whatever you're grinding unless you're grinding spices or coffee with your grinder attachment. And again the rule-of-thumb never run it longer than 5 seconds at a time.

The dishwasher-safe storage is an nice touch also as is the fact that they are microwaveable.

My wife really wanted this to make frozen smoothies since our blender does a poor job at crushing ice. Unfortunately, so does the Magic Bullet. It's amusing, but should have spent the money to purchase a better blender. And don't let the 25 piece description fool you. Every lid, colored ring, and manual is included in this count. More realistically this is an 8 piece set.
